Security detectors are used in order to prevent or timely detect unauthorized entry into the protected area or fix them.

In addition, detectors (security sensors) help to identify potentially dangerous situations. This feature makes burglar alarms a very valuable tool for both security guards and property owners.

Security detectors are usually installed together with fire detectors. Thanks to the software and hardware, the detector is automatically controlled. Exceptions are manual call points and panic buttons. Human intervention is required to trigger such detectors.

Classification of detectors

Security detectors differ in the principle of signal generation for passive and active.

Passive sensors of the security and fire alarm system respond to changes in environmental parameters in the protected area. For example, a sensor that senses temperature changes is a passive sensor.

Active sensors generate a signal in the protected area and record changes in the parameters of this signal. An example is perimeter radio wave detectors.
